Requirements For Nigerian Temporary Work Visas

A Nigerian temporary work visa is issued to an applicant who will be working in Nigeria temporarily.

  • Passport Requirements: Provide your signed original passport book. Please note: Your valid passport book must have at least six months of remaining validity and at least one blank page in it. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps.
  • Completed Visa Application Form & Embassy Visa Fees: All visa applications and the payment of fees must be done through the Nigeria Immigration Website at https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/visa/newvisa/zone/conventional.

  • Complete the online form. NOTE: Improperly completed forms may delay the processing of your visa.

  • After completing the online form, please print it out and submit it.

  • Proceed to the payments section and carefully follow the instructions to make the $112.00 payment for the visa.  If there are any difficulties, please contact us.  We can fill out the payment information for you but there will be an additional fee.

  • Please be sure to print out the confirmation of payment and attach it to the application.

  • The printed application and payment confirmation should be mailed to the Inter-American Group (IAG) along with a money order made out to the Embassy of Nigeria to cover the Embassy PROCESSING FEE.  For normal processing time (10 business days) the fee is $20.00 per application.  If expedited services are required, the fee is $85.00 per application.
  • Two passport photos in color, front view and with a plain/light background.
  • Proof of Travel: A copy of the round-trip tickets or flight itinerary to Nigeria.
  • Nigerian Consular Fee: One copy of the Confirmation of your online payment, as indicated above in the online Visa Application instructions.
  • A Copy of the Nigerian Immigration Approval Telex showing the applicant's name.  This is an official letter of approval for a Temporary work permit from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
  • Proof of Accommodation: Hotel reservations showing confirmed accommodations for the total duration of stay in Nigeria, or a letter from the host organization or company that will be providing accommodations to the applicant. The letter must explain the host’s relationship to the applicant and indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and contact information. It should also include a statement by the host saying that they “hereby accept full immigration responsibilities” for the applicant. If the host is a Nigerian citizen, a copy of the host’s passport must be submitted. If host is a resident in Nigeria, copies of the host's resident permits and the information page of their passports are necessary.

Additional Requirements:

  • If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, you must first amend your passport to have pages added, or if your passport expires within six months, you must first renew your passport. We can secure your visa using the added pages or new passport.
